Essence of Christmas

Christmas is the most awaited season of the year. Gifts, foods, colorful lights on the streets, lanterns, Christmas trees and many other. Everyone's seems to be excited about the coming of Christmas Eve. But do we really know the true essence of Christmas?

Christmas! The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long      Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given - -when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes.Christmas is not just a time for festivity and merry making. It is more than that. The Christmas spirit is a spirit of giving and forgiving. And may we all have this spirit throughout the year for our family, friends, and those who are in need.

From Home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another. The warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other. The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree that I would want is the the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. Equality? We all deserve to be equal, equally treated, equally respected from race, sex, religion, age and other petty differences should not matter.
We all deserve respect no matter where we came from whether you're an Asian, European or American. Black or white, tall or short we all that matters. Men and Women are people. Sex should not matter, therefore, they should be treated with respect. Many men and women are harassed every day by the opposite sex. People should realize that without the opposite sex, it would mean the end of the human race. So both men and women are just as important as the other. No religion is wrong. We are raised to believe on something. Discrimination, we should not judge others the way they look physically. Let yourself know them mentally. It is not their fault, If they we're born differently.
People are people, discrimination is discrimination, and what's wrong is wrong. No one is any better than anyone else. I hope that someday people will stop trying to get back at one another. Until this happens there will never be peace.

Climate Change

When I hear the words ‘Climate Change’ there are three main question that comes up to my mind. Who are the one’s responsible for this? What will happen to Earth if Climate Change is happening? And are there anyone responding to Climate Change?

Cause? Humans are largely responsible for recent climate change. Over the past century, human activities have released large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The majority of greenhouse gases come from burning fossil fuels to produce energy, although deforestation, industrial processes, and some agricultural practices also emit gases into the atmosphere.

Effects? Climate change affects everyone. Our Global Temperature, sea level, precipitation. Storms and flooding that will affect many lives and even home displacement. The impact on human health, like heat and air pollutants that will lead to respiratory diseases. Our food supply will also be affected, until we all suffer from these problems. Our lives are connected to the climate.

We should take an action. Start on ourselves, on our family, friends, even on the streets. It is never too late for a change. Just do it today! And have a better life from time to time and for more generations to come.

2nd Grading Period

It's like been a week when I wrote my first reflection. And here I am again for my second reflection for second grading period.
On our second grading period I've learned new things on our subject ICT. Parts of a Web Browser, Levels of Domain Name, Search Engines, HTML's Tag Attributes and so much more.
I had encountered problems in my studies especially in coping up in our class, understanding, our exercises and familiarizing my self with the tags.
I faced this problems by making myself more focus on my studies. Pass my requirements on time especially my notebook and blog.
Moving on, I will focus more on my studies. Pass my requirements on time. and I'll be listening to our class discussions.

Scientricity: Energizing Science Clubbers for Sustainable Energy

The world is constantly changing. Technologies emerged and already been a part of our daily lives. But despite of all these innovation. Do we have enough sustainable energy for us and for generations to come?
What can we do? We can make a difference! There are many simple action that we can take to make a better usage of sustainable energy. Energy efficiency, this may be as simple as turning of the lights when leaving a room or bicycling to school instead of asking for a ride. We must know how very important alternative energy sources to us. Like wind, solar, hydroelectricity and other renewable energy sources.
We must do our part, take responsibilities, duties and to encourage others to conserve. Share information about energy conservation with our friends, classmates and neighbors. And once you start exploring, you'll see that it's actually fun!

My Teacher, My Hero

September 5 to October 5 is the celebration of the theme "My Teacher, My Hero". We all know that every year we celebrate it and every year we are having activities in related to theme not just for the students but also for the teachers. But what is the true essence of this celebration? It is not just showing that we love them but showing them that we appreciate them. For all the hardwork that they had been doing for us.
A hero is not just defined by fighting in a war. It is also defined as doing a novelty thing. Saving lives, protecting and helping people is already called a hero. If in the past hundred years we had Dr. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini and other Filipino heroes who fought for our freedom. Todays hero is our teacher. Without a teacher, there will be no doctor, architect, engineers and even future teachers. They do not just teach us how speak in English and Filipino, learn the concepts of Newton's Third Law of Motion or understand the formulas in Advanced Algebra. It is the experience and value we learn from them. Chalk and eraser are their tools and with these tools we learn new things from them. From the advices and scolds we hear. We made ourselves more confident and responsible to our lives.
And this are my reasons why I consider teachers as my heroes.

MODERN HERO

A hero is a person who is able to help another in various ways. A person can become a hero by saving someone who is in danger. Another example of a hero is someone who is there to help others and gives them strength to go on through life’s difficulties. A hero can be someone who gave up his or her life so another could live.

I consider my parents as my heroes. My mom and dad are one of the most important people in my life. Not just because I came from them. It is because they taught me to be good, loving, caring and God- fearing. I love them more than any material things in this world. They have been by my side in times of sorrow and happiness.

My parents are my happiness and without them I wouldn't be what I am right now.

Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka- Pilipino

This month of August we are celebrating the "Buwan ng Wika". So we expect contest and activities here in our school. What does this celebration for? Is it for our entertainment while watching these programs? Or to know the essence of this celebration?
Language serves as a communication to people and it is true that it is hard to communicate. If they won't understand you. Almost all of the Pilipino people know how to read, write and speak our national language. But there are some Pilipinos who are not good in speaking our language and does not speak Pilipino at all. They only know they're dialect where they grow up to. And because of this there are Pilipinos who cannot understand each other. Having so many dialects in our country causes adversity in our country. Pilipinos wont unite on learning their language. Every Pilipino should know even on the edge of islands here on the Philippines that we should learn first our national language before anything else.
Our language is unique. It is our duty as Pilipinos to use, love, care of our national language.

First Grading Period

Almost two months had past and few days to go before our first periodical test.
On our first grading period at the fourth year high school I've learned new things and some are not already new to us. Like our subject Ekonomiks this subject was new to us. It took time for us to appreciate it. At our ICT subject I've learned about the history of internet and about blogging.
We had encountered problems in our studies. Especially in taking down notes, sometimes I don't copy at all even though out teacher telling me to copy. Hard headed had been an attitude for me this first grading. I also had problems in reaching out to our lessons and I believe that I am not the only one having this kind of problem. I also had a hard time coping with our projects and other activities not just in ICT subject but also in other subject.
Despite of all this problems there will always be a solution. I faced this problems with eagerness to fulfill. I'd make myself more consistent in my studies. I had organized my task in order to finish every other other activities and projects we had.
Moving on, I will focus more on my studies. I promise myself not to be late anymore because this is one of the reasons I got low scores in our subjects.

Third SONA of PNoy

Almost three years in reign after he was elected as the president of the Republic of the Philippines. President Benigno Aquino III delivered his third State Of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa on July 23, 2012.
As a student I am aware of what is happening around us especially on my own country. I watched the headlines of the SONA of PNoy. With these highlights and salient points of the SONA. I would like to give my own opinion. One of the issues he talked about is the free education. 4.57 million student who could not go to school before due to poverty will now be able to study. State Universities and Colleges will get a 43.61% budget increase in 2013. These highlights are very important to me as a student. But as a graduating student in secondary fourth year. Shall it really be increased in budget by next year? PNoy also talked about health. Now, 85% of Filipinos are Philhealth members. The government are also expanding health services. They also expanded their coverage to cancer and leukemia patients. This will help the Filipinos more because cancer and leukemia are severe diseases. Also severe on the money needed for medication. He also talked about security. AFP Modernization, No more Cash Advances allowed in the government agencies and territorial dispute with China particularly in the West Philippine Sea.
"Filipinos made change possible; Change comes from the citizenry." PNoy cited. I believe on this quote because the change starts form us and we will gain the price if we will do it as one.

Pagkain Ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw Araw Itong Ihain

Ang Go, Grow at Glow foods.

LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT

Dear Mr. President,

First of all I would like to greet you a good day Sir. Having the opportunity to write the President of the Republic of the Philippines was a novelty thing to do.
Before anything else I would like to introduce myself. I'm Iric Von Singson a fourth year high school and graduating in a public school, Ilocos Sur National High School. I'm from Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
Since you we're elected as the President in the year 2010. Filipinos especially the youth and I expected progress in our economy. As a youth and a part of the community I am aware of what is happening in our country. After two years of the Aquino Administration. I can say that there is a progress in our country from education, lack of jobs for Filipinos and other economic problem. I would like to talk about the K+12 you had implemented. My parents and I had been talking and arguing about these. Even though I am not included  to this program. I am still concern about the problems of the parents. If it's going to lead us to a more progressive or not progressive. The K+ 12 program proposal to the basic and secondary education
curriculum has been with criticism and controversial from youth, students, groups, teachers and parents. If the DepEd (Department of Education) are ready for this kind of curriculums. Are there already classrooms for the students and additional teachers or even the budget. Are they really prepared for this?
Thank you for having this time to read my letter Mr. President.

Respectfully yours,
IRIC VON A. SINGSON
